The research and development of typical weather systems such as the mid-high latitude multi-climate climate system in the Northeast region is aimed at improving the level of weather forecasting and forecasting operations in Northeast China, strengthening the capabilities of disaster prevention and mitigation in Northeast China, food security, and meteorological support for ecological civilization. The research and development team of the Northeast Cold Vortex Research Open Key Laboratory is based on the Shenyang Institute of Atmospheric Environment of China Meteorological Administration and related scientific research staff in Liaoning, Jilin, and Heilongjiang provinces, and is complemented by the Institute of Atmospheric Physics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, the Chinese Academy of Meteorological Sciences, and the National Meteorological Center. The laboratory will also build a scientific experimental base for strong convection observation of the cold vortex in the Northeast. The test base can carry out scientific observations of the meso- and small-scale strong convective weather system of the cold vortex in Northeast China, and study the three-dimensional structure evolution characteristics of the meso- and small-scale system of the strong convection in the Northeast cold vortex and the mutual feedback mechanism with the weather scale system.
